colorless,
some of its brothers
or sisters

are clay-court red
or raven-black
sometimes
snow-white underutilized.
A maverick,
Noblesse Oblige,
afraid of cold and wind
adorns himself with a head.
After years its posture gets crooked
and a substitute imposes itself.
Gifted with unmistakable characters
they attract birds and cats
and shoot their curly stories to purify.
They compete in beauty contests
with their mantelpiece relatives
on the lower floors.
The bigger their shadows
radiate on their neighbors
the more they reflect
the importance of their function.
Picky as its audience
the one of the Sistine Chapel
blows alternately
Black & White.
Reversed table on a yard.
The Battersea
fab four
legs
day-dream their
|past functionality|halfpenny beauty.
My words, my thoughts rising
towards unknown skies
while watching
a brick one,
abandoned
in a deserted factory.
Another chimney
symbol of my
homesickness.
Another divine tunnel
to escape_
